Coding in Grades K through 2 with Scratch Jr.
NOTE: Please bring an iPad tablet, android tablet or chromebook to this session. Scratch Jr. does is currently an app and does NOT work with laptops.
Are you curious about integrating coding into your lower elementary classroom? Scratch, one of the world’s most popular drag-and-drop coding languages, has a little cousin - Scratch Jr. Perfect for students in grades K through 2, Scratch Jr. allows young children to tell stories and create simple games through coding. In this hour-long introductory course, we’ll start at the beginning by examining existing resources and crafting simple programs. By the end, you will have the skills to effectively bring coding back to your kids!

Resourcepalooza - Engaging K-5 with Computational Thinking and Computer Science
Attendees with be exposed to a Resourcepalooza during this session that will help introduce their K-5 students to computational thinking and computer science. Exposing students at an elementary age to computational thinking helps pave the pathway into computer science in middle and high school. Come learn about a Palooza of great resources that are out there for elementary teachers and get some hands-on exposure to as many as possible in a 1 hr session.
